Course Syllabus

  • Introduction

This unit provides an introduction to the Prevent Duty course, outlining the course structure and how the rest of the units cover the course content.

  • An Introduction to the Prevent Duty

We begin the course with a look at what the Prevent Duty is within UK law, and provide you with foundational knowledge for the rest of the course. This unit also explores Prevent guidance, compliance to the Prevent strategy, terrorist groups, and the threat of terrorism in the UK.

  • Understanding Radicalisation

Now it is time to look at key terms such as terrorism, extremism, extremist ideologies, radicalisation and vulnerability. By the end of this unit, you will have a good understanding of the role of the internet and social media in the process of radicalisation, the signs to look out for and how to conduct careful assessments.

  • Prevent Duty in Action

We are now on the final unit of this Prevent Duty course. We'll learn how to get advice and support, the role of Channel in Prevent strategy and how you can make a referral concerning a vulnerable individual. We'll also take a look at sharing information and three case studies to put Prevent theory into practice.
