The complete bundle to apply for your Personal Licence

Not sure how to do your DBS check and council application? We can take care of these for you with this all-in-one training and application package.

This bundle includes:

  • The Level 2 Personal Licence Qualification - online course and exam
  • A DBS certificate
  • The Council application (including any fees)

Applying for your Personal Licence

We will apply for the personal licence from the local council in the country where you live. You may need an address in that country in order to receive the licence. The application requires that you have the "Personal Licence Holder Level 2 Award" qualification which is included.

NOTE: If you already have a personal licence valid in England and Wales that has an expiry date, you do NOT need to apply for a new licence. Instead, you should contact your local council for renewal.

The Level 2 Personal Licence Holder Qualification Course

Personal Licence Holders in England and Wales are required to gain a Personal Licence Holder qualification. We will provide this qualification as part of this bundle.

The course contains the following elements

  • Online learning content, with narrated videos
  • Activities and progress tests
  • A "mock" practice test, complete with review facility and a bank of changing questions
  • A choice of online or local centres for your final test
  • Telephone support if required

The Digital College course can be taken online; both the course content and the final exam can be accessed via the internet. This exam must be booked via the exam booking form button upon completing 75% of the course. The exam can be taken online or in a local test centre.

The course provides a detailed examination of the licensing system in England and Wales and the different types of licences that are available to apply for.

How does the online training and exam work?

Our online training is provided through video with short progress exams. A full preparation exam is included with the training so you will be ready for the exam.

The online multiple-choice exam can be taken on a laptop with a camera in a suitably quiet location. Your activity on the screen and via the webcam is recorded during the whole assessment and reviewed by the examining body.

Course Syllabus

  • Course Introduction

This unit provides an introduction to the Personal Licence Holder Level 2 Award course. It outlines the structure of the course and how the rest of the modules and units cover the course content.

  • Setting the Scene

We begin the course by setting the scene with some background information about licencing in England and Wales, as well as providing an overview of licensable activities, types of licensing, and licensing restrictions and exemptions.

  • Licensing in England and Wales

Now we'll take a look at the licensing system in England and Wales and how local authorities manage licensing. We'll also go into depth for the four main licensable activities, as well as examine deregulated entertainment.

  • Understanding Alcohol

In this final unit of Module 1, we examine the various aspects of alcohol, including its definition, strength, units, labelling laws and its effects and risks when consumed.

  • Personal Licences

To kick things off with our second module, we explore the first type of licence, Personal Licence, including duties and responsibilities as a personal licence holder, eligibility, how to apply for one and suspension of a personal licence.

  • Premises Licences

Next up in Module 2 is an examination of Premises Licences, including key facts, compulsory conditions, how to apply for one and variations to premises licence applications. We also introduce you to the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS).

  • Club Premises Certificates

Now we'll take a look at Club Premises Certificates, where we will explore their qualifying criteria, regulations, qualifying club activities and how to apply for one.

  • Temporary Events Notices

In this penultimate unit of Module 2, we look at the different aspects of Temporary Events Notices (TENs), including constraints, when you might apply for one, the notification process and how one operates.

  • Enforcing the Law

In this last unit of Module 2, we look at how the law is enforced, including the powers of authorised persons and how closures to establishments are undertaken.

  • Prevention of Crime and Disorder

For our first unit of Module 3, we explore the first licencing objective: Preventing Crime and Disorder. Also included in this unit is an exploration of preventative measures, how to deal with incidents, responsible and irresponsible drinks promotions, and how to encourage responsible drinking.

  • Public Safety and the Prevention of Public Nuisance

Next up is an examination of the next two licensing objectives: Public Safety and the Prevention of Public Nuisance. We'll look at fire prevention, health and safety, and how to prevent public nuisances.

  • The Protection of Children from Harm

In this final unit of Module 3, we examine the last licensing objective: The Protection of Children from Harm. Also included in this unit is an examination of the admittance of children to licensed premises, the sale of alcohol to under 18s and the age verification policy.

  • Preparation for your Exam
